About the Role
Health & Safety Business Partner – Utilities & Infrastructure
At Citywide, safety is more than compliance, it's how we work. We're looking for an experienced Health & Safety Business Partner to join our Health, Safety & Environment team and play a key role in creating safer workplaces across our Utilities and Infrastructure operations.
This is a hands-on partnering role where you'll work alongside operational leaders, supervisors and frontline teams to strengthen safety leadership, manage critical risks and drive continuous improvement. If you enjoy being out in the field, influencing leaders and making a genuine impact on the safety of people performing high-risk work, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll be doing
As a trusted business partner, you will:
- Partner with operational leaders to embed a proactive safety culture and improve health and safety performance.
- Provide practical, risk-based advice and coaching on WHS legislation, critical risks and safe work practices.
- Lead incident investigations, identify root causes and ensure effective corrective actions are implemented.
- Facilitate risk assessments and critical risk reviews across high-risk operational activities.
- Conduct audits, workplace inspections and assurance activities to verify compliance and control effectiveness.
- Support the management of psychosocial hazards and promote mentally healthy workplaces.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Citywide's Health and Safety Management System and ISO 45001 framework.
- Monitor safety performance, identify trends and provide meaningful insights to drive improvement.
- Support contractor safety, operational readiness and the safe delivery of work across multiple sites.
About you
You are a collaborative and credible safety professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams and influencing positive change.
You'll bring:
- A tertiary qualification in Workplace Health & Safety or a related discipline.
- Experience in a WHS Business Partner or Safety Advisor role within a high-risk industry.
- Strong working knowledge of Victorian WHS legislation and contemporary risk management practices.
- Experience leading incident investigations, audits and assurance activities.
- The ability to build trusted relationships and influence leaders at all levels.
- Excellent communication, coaching and problem-solving skills.
- A current driver's licence.
It would be great if you also have
- Experience within utilities, infrastructure, construction or other high-risk operational environments.
- Experience managing critical risks such as electrical safety, mobile plant, traffic management, excavation or contractor safety.
- ICAM or equivalent investigation training.
- ISO 45001 Lead Auditor qualification.
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment.
- Experience using safety management systems such as MYOSH or similar.
- Membership of the Australian Institute of Health & Safety (AIHS).
Why join Citywide?

We offer:
- A genuine opportunity to influence safety culture across a diverse operational business.
- A collaborative and supportive Health, Safety & Environment team.
- Meaningful, varied work in a dynamic operational environment.
- Opportunities for professional development and career growth.
- A values-driven organisation committed to continuous improvement.
