Tree Root Maintenance Team Leader

 

Citywide are recruiting for a Tree Root Maintenance Team Leader to join our crew working out of the Port Melbourne depot. In this role you will lead the team dealing with tree root issues affecting infrastructure and buildings. This role would suit anyone with an Arboriculture or Civil background with leadership experience who is looking for a new challenge.

  • Monday to Friday – 6.30am to 2.36pm
  • Port Melbourne depot location

 

Duties of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Lead and work closely with the team to carry out underground tree maintenance duties, clearing the tree root area, identifying problems and installing barriers around the roots, while monitoring the area for services such as power, gas and water.
  • Cut sealed surfaces using a demo saw
  • Operation of air spade excavation tool
  • Manual, hydro and mechanical excavation of trenches
  • Capture images of works before, during and at completion of the job
  • Safe operation of demo saw and chainsaw
  • Perform open space maintenance works as required including tree planting, watering, minor concrete and asphalt works
  • Assist in instructing and guiding apprentices, tradespeople and labourers
  • Drive and maintain equipment (trailer mounted machine, light trucks, tip-truck, excavator, Bobcat)
  • Report daily performance against work objectives
  • Coordinate day to day activities
  • Identify and resolve work problems on site
  • Order stock and materials
  • Mentor and train new staff members
  • Be available for after hours ‘on call’ duties as part of a roster

 

Skill and qualifications required:

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Cert III in Horticulture, Arboriculture or Landscaping
  • MR/HR licence
  • Hydro/NDD experience
  • Chainsaw Ticket
  • Skid Steer Ticket
  • EWP
  • Confined Space
  • First Aid
  • Traffic Management
  • Cert II ESI
  • Chemical certificate (Desirable)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong time keeping and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with task scheduling and prioritisation software
  • Team orientated, highly motivated and able to follow instructions
